Improving Google pay reward experience.

Project Context

After each transaction, users receive a digital reward tile that must be manually scratched to reveal the reward (e.g., cashback or coupons).

Current experience - Reward tiles are arranged in a 2-column grid on the Rewards page. Unrevealed tiles display a solid blue background; tiles nearing expiration are shown in orange with a countdown badge . - Status indicators include “New” badges, expiration countdowns, and popularity markers such as “6k liked.” - The header displays the total accumulated reward value and may include a promotional banner.

Problem

Manually scratching multiple rewards is tedious, especially for frequent users.

  • Time-sensitive rewards (e.g., mobile recharge cashback) can expire before being revealed and redeemed.

  • Some rewards are forgotten once buried within the interface.

  • Users often forget to check the Rewards page altogether.

  • Inconsistencies in UI: unrevealed blue tiles lack expiration info, unlike orange ones.

Goals and success metrics

Reduce friction in reward access.

  • Reduce the number of expired rewards, especially high-value and frequently used ones such as mobile recharge cashbacks.

  • Improve overall engagement with the rewards system.

80% reduction in average time or taps required to reveal rewards.

  • Expired rewards rate drops below 5%.

  • Reward redemption increases by 25%.

  • Net Promoter Score (NPS) for rewards feature improves by 0.5 points or more.

Proposed feature

Bulk Reveal Button

  • A one-tap button on the Rewards page allows users to reveal all currently unrevealed rewards at once.

Reward Categorsation

  • Categoriasation of rewards based on their use case.
